Recording Your First Trade

Walk through logging a trade end-to-end, from new entry to saved record.

Key takeaways

  • Trades are created from Journal → Trades → New, or directly at /workspace/trades/new.
  • Each trade requires an Asset, Direction (long or short), one or more orders, and any fees.
  • New assets can be created inline if the instrument isn't already in your list.
  • A trade stays Active until exits cover entries, then automatically flips to Closed.
  • Notes, Flags, and edits can be added any time after saving - dashboards update automatically.

Your first trade lives at /workspace/trades/new.

  1. From the sidebar open Journal → Trades, then click New.
  2. Pick the Asset you traded. If it's not in the list yet, create it inline - see Creating a New Asset.
  3. Set the Direction (long or short), enter your orders (entry and exit fills with price, quantity, and date), and any fees.
  4. Save. The trade appears with status Active until exits cover the entries; once they do it flips to Closed.

You can edit the trade at any time, attach notes and Flags from the trade detail view, and the dashboards pick up the changes automatically.
